Counter mode and staff PIN
Counter mode turns a phone or tablet at your till into a stamp-only terminal. Staff can issue stamps and redeem rewards but can't touch your billing, settings, or customer list — perfect for a shared device.
Available on Pro and above.
Setting up counter mode
- In the portal, open Settings → Staff & counter for the shop you want to enable.
- Click Generate counter PIN. You'll see a 4-digit code — write it down or screenshot it.
- On the till device, open the mobile app and sign in with your owner credentials once.
- From the Profile tab, tap Enter counter mode and enter the PIN.
- The app locks into counter mode. Only the Stamp and Redeem screens are accessible.
To exit counter mode and get back to your full owner view, tap the lock icon and re-enter the PIN.
What staff can do in counter mode
- Generate stamp QRs for customers
- Scan customer reward-redemption QRs
- See the day's stamp count and redemption count
What staff cannot do
- Change the reward, stamp count, or any setting
- See the full customer list or any customer's contact details
- Send campaigns
- Open billing or change the plan
- Sign you out of the account
This is enforced at the API level, not just the UI — even if a staff member somehow navigated past the lock screen, the server rejects any non-stamp/redeem call.
Multiple devices
You can put the same PIN onto as many devices as you like. The PIN is per shop, so a multi-shop owner can use different PINs for different locations (handy if you don't want one location's staff stamping at another).
Rotating the PIN
When a staff member leaves, click Generate new PIN in the Staff & counter settings. The old PIN stops working immediately on every device — they'll be prompted to enter the new one. Existing logged-in staff devices that were already in counter mode keep working until they're rebooted.
Without counter mode
On Starter and Growth plans, counter mode isn't available — you'd give staff your full owner login, which we strongly recommend against. Upgrade to Pro for the staff PIN, or restrict stamping to your own phone.
